We Are the ruggeds
‘‘A modern family connected through Breaking since 2005’’
Born and raised in the city of Eindhoven in the south of the Netherlands. From taking the competition game a little too seriously, our passions became a lifestyle. We are known for moving as a unit and taking steps most Breaking crews wouldn’t take.
Some might know us as World Champions, some know us from Justin Bieber’s music video ‘Where Are U Now’ or our appearance on ‘NBC’s World Of Dance Season 2’. Today you can find us pretty much everywhere, from the battle stage to the theater or just on social media where we keep everyone entertained daily.
Our main reason why we started was that we were passionate about battles.
The culture of Breaking is what got us where we are today. It taught us to be original not just as individuals but also as a collective: we move with different bodies in the same mindstate to get to our destination. We have won over 200 Breaking / Breakdance competitions and took our first World Title in 2014 at the UK Bboy Championships. A year later we wanted to try something new and premiered a short version of ‘Adrenaline’ at Breakin’ Convention at Sadler’s Wells in London as a Breaking / Breakdance Company, we got selected to go on tour in the USA where we performed at the Apollo in New York amongst other places. This was our first ever theatre production which gave us a new platform for us to create and express ourselves. At the beginning of 2019, we created a new production ‘Between Us’ which we’ve performed throughout the whole year all over the Netherlands, including ‘Lowlands’, one of Netherlands biggest festivals.
As we’re moving into a new decade we reflect and continue to raise the bar. Some of us have the ambition to win the first gold medal in Breaking and are already preparing for the Olympic Games in 2024. Others have already started working on a new theatre production.
Apart from all the lights and cameras, we want to give our audience a closer look and be involved with The Ruggeds.
